Local Jack Fisher Named Sea 180º Chef at Pier South Hotel

Jack Fisher of Imperial Beach will be the Chef de Cuisine at Sea 180º Coastal Tavern, a restaurant at Pier South Hotel. Ken Irvine of Coronado will be the restaurant's Executive Chef.

Imperial Beach local Jack Fisher has been named Chef de Cuisine for Sea 180º Coastal Tavern, the restaurant at Pier South Hotel, according to Cohn Restaurant Group.

Fisher will work alongside Executive Chef Ken Irvine at the restaurant, which plans to serve Baja Med cuisine. Pier South Hotel is scheduled to open this fall.

"I just can't believe it. It's like a dream come true to me," said Fisher, who lives blocks from the hotel and plans to ride his bike to work.

One fun part of the job will be cooking for friends, family and neighbors with Irvine, who lives in the Coronado Cays.

"That's super exciting for me to be able to do since I've never seen anyone [from IB] in any of the restaurants I've worked in," he said.

Fisher has lived in Imperial Beach since the 1970s and ran for mayor of IB in 2010.

He has held positions of authority in the Mormon church and most recently worked as the executive pastry chef at NINE-TEN in La Jolla.

In 2010 Fisher was named one of San Diego's top chefs by San Diego Reader and San Diego's best chocolatier by San Diego Magazine.
