Monday Essentials: New Superintendent, Learn to Blog and Adult School

Here are the five things residents of Imperial Beach should know today.

1. Registration for Sweetwater Adult School classes continues through July 25. Classes offered at San Diego Job Corps and Imperial Beach Adult Education Center include parenting, ESL, welding, computer repair and more. Classes begin July 30.

2. IB Patch and Coronado Patch Local Editor Khari Johnson will lead a workshop at the library to teach people how to blog on Patch or elsewhere online Wednesday at 6 p.m.

3. The South Bay Union School District's new Superintendent Dr. Katie McNamara will preside over her first Board of Trustees meeting July 25 at Burgess Auditorium at the Imperial Beach Charter School campus near district offices. Among other local leadership changes, Andy Hall was appointed the new City Manager of the city of Imperial Beach Wednesday. Hall may take over in early August.

4. The San Diego County Library Imperial beach branch are asking local residents with professional attire to donate those goods to the library. Clothes will be given to people looking to dress their best for a job interview at a Sept. 17 workshop.

5. Seaside Candy in the 100 block of Palm Avenue is now open following a grand opening held Saturday
