Driving in IB #2: City Gets in the Way of Weinerschnitzel Sign Repair. Is That Keeping IB Beautiful?

... maybe the city's new code compliance program should also apply to the city's permit process?

On the same day as Patch's  featured the local   restaurant in an article titled; , the editor of the IB Patch, , also reported on a .

Although the Patch articles were posted almost five months ago, the scene still looks like the accident happened yesterday.

As an who specializes in business insurance and personal auto insurance, I know that even if a motorist is uninsured at the time of the accident, something is seriously wrong if it takes a business five months to repair a damaged sign.

So today, I stopped by the restaurant to snap a current picture of the accident scene for this blog post and to find out what I could about the status of the aging eyesore.

According to the restaurant's manager, the sign was ready for installation about a month after the accident, however, "the city has been really difficult to work with.  We went back and forth with them, then finally, right before the installation, they made us stop everything and wait for a sign construction permit."

4 months later... 

"We finally got our sign permit issued and a new sign is scheduled to be installed next week", said a relieved Weinerschnitzel's manager today.

I wonder if the  are causing driving eye sores in IB?  If so, maybe it's time to reevaluate Friday closures, or maybe the city's  should also apply to the city's permit process?
