Filippi's Opens Saturday in Imperial Beach

Filippi's Pizza Grotto will open its newest location in Imperial Beach Saturday.

Renovations are done, grape vines have been hung and Filippi's Pizza Grotto will open its newest location in Imperial Beach Saturday at 11 a.m., said manager Michelle DePhilippis.

A grand opening will be held next month. An all-you-can-eat spaghetti night and lunch specials will be a part of the Filippi's IB menu in the future, she said.

The restaurant which serves Italian dishes and pizza will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, she said.

Among the restaurant's features, a mural of Venice spanning two walls was created by Victor Zapeda of Imperial Beach and another Grossmont College art student.

The IB location will mark the 14th restaurant for the family-owned business with locations in San Diego and other parts of California.

Filippi's is the latest business to occupy the building at the corner of 3rd Street and Palm Avenue owned by the Rahimpour Family Trust. In the past, IB Rockin', Bryan's Landing and most recently Marisa's Mexican Seafood Grill were at the same location.
