Each was donated by local residents or board makers, including a personal board of Dempsey Holder made at the old lifeguard station.</p> <p>The Dempsey Holder Room on the second floor acts as a meeting space for local non-profit organizations. Requests to use the space may be submitted to the city of Imperial Beach. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department has an office in its building as well.</p> <p>The city manager is responsible for running the station and is assisted by the Lifeguard Captain and the Public Safety director, who is the chief of the Imperial Beach Fire Department.</p>

The fire department has an ambulance, two fire trucks and primarily responds to medical calls.</p> <p>Residents may visit during office hours for fire safety prevention tips and literature. The fire department inspects the community's buildings for fire safety compliance. Animal services are contracted out to the Chula Vista Animal Shelter Program.</p> <p>The city's fire chief and director of Public Safety is Tom Clark.</p>
