The City of Imperial Beach Lifeguard Service strives to keep beachgoers safe but is also composed of trained…More emergency responders.</p> <p>About 10 surfboards line the walls of the station's second floor. Each was donated by local residents or board makers, including a personal board of Dempsey Holder made at the old lifeguard station.</p> <p>The Dempsey Holder Room on the second floor acts as a meeting space for local non-profit organizations. Requests to use the space may be submitted to the city of Imperial Beach. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department has an office in its building as well.</p> <p>The city manager is responsible for running the station and is assisted by the Lifeguard Captain and the Public Safety director, who is the chief of the Imperial Beach Fire Department.</p>
