It is ludicrous to think that a low-level temporary employee was "told to redact" part ofRead More legal bills. I don't believe that for a second. More likely, the Admin Services officer just told the clerk to give the auditor the invoices they asked for. Then, when she realized it was going to reveal improprieties (or illegalities), the AO pitched a fit and conveniently, the temporary employee was let go. It does seem to me the City is trying very hard to hide something. I have been reading Libi's rants about the city doing illegal stuff for months. She appears to have been right.

'... Does anyone remember City of Bell?... thanks loki, but it's a long process and far from over....the city manager of bell is still awaitingRead More trial..... the law firm handles dozens of cities - i'll need to audit other cities to show a pattern of corruption against the firm... the good news is that there's laws on the books to recoup the taxpayers' money .... '..."I believe they said the person who asked for the audits was probably insane," Foster said. ...' who you call'n crazy ....you're the ones that choose to ruin your lives just to throw the art kids out of the park... ....'hey mac - what are you in for?'.......'refusing to allow little kids to use a public park'.... i would have never looked at the books if they had just left the little kids alone, but child abuse is something i can't turn my back on....

What I'm saying is that if someone complained while the students were filming the video on schoolRead More property, THAT'S harassment. Watching a youtube video where "twerking" is in the title is like having a video that says "naked body parts" in the title and saying "Umphh, I'm offended that I watched a video that showed skin." JUST CHANGE THE CHANNEL!!! DON'T WATCH IT!!! If they played this in the school on a tv in the main office area where unsuspecting folks could see it, that's a legitimate sexual harassment case. Now, the "humping a wall" is kind of silly. I think it's stupid but if this is the worst thing they've done, cut them some slack. They probably won't do this again. Strange that the video is still up on youtube so apparently the lords of youtube don't see it as being extreme. My opinion is that the school is embarrassed, the kids used school equipment to film it, and the school can't think of anything legitimate to chastise them so they're going to label them as sexual deviants, a charge that will be on their permanent record. Suspending them for two days is fine. They deserve some punishment for filming using school equipment on school grounds (unless the person who gave them the camera was a school employee and knew what was going on, in which case he/she should be suspended for a month). Hopefully their parents are giving them more grief than the school ever could. Now if one of them had eaten a pop tart into the shape of a gun, we could have locked them up for life!

At what point does public exposure become indecent? Is humping a wall considered an artfulRead More expression with free speech implications? Is this the level of morality we want our children to express and be exposed to? I have no answers, just questions.
Joe St. Lucas May 16, 2013 at 11:49 am
I don't understand this "sexual harassment" thing. Who was harassed? The students makingRead More the video wouldn't complain. If you watched the video on youtube, you "volunteered" to watch it. If you saw the video on TV, the TV station should be responsible for showing "harassing" material. That's like going into an F-Street bookstore (RIP) and claiming you're harassed by what they sell.

$60 a month, covers mowing/trimming/spraying roundup on weeds twice a month, and pruning a couple ofRead More times a year. If the grass is growing like crazy in the back, I pay $40 more to get it mowed the other 2 weeks out of the month ($20 each time, back only).

NO... it's not too much too ask for our city government to be transparent, but when she did the cityRead More called her insane... If it is insane to demand an open and transparent government, I'll take insanity over non-transparency! It sounds more desirable to be insane - than a component of the local City Hall. Good luck hunting for a new City mis-Manager.

IB (like other cities) have many owners that should not have a dog. If you do not have a yard, youRead More should not have a dog. I'll agree for medical needs signed by a doctor. If you live in an apartment and do have a fenced yard, move if you are going to have a dog. It is the right thing to do for your dog. And owners - shut your dogs constant barking up. Nobody likes it but you. If you do not have insurance, you should not have a dog. No exceptions. If you do not have a leash on your dog, you should be cited. I get tired of the "dog lovers" walking the bike path who let Fido run loose into yards, to poop and not clean it up. They let Fido poop on the sidewalk and elsewhere and not clean it up. They laugh when their dogs chase bicycles, runners, or the mailman. It is your dog, keep it under control. Dog owners should be required to carry and show upon request rabies records for that animal. Why make a child suffer through the rabies shots because you are careless? I walk my dog on a leash daily. He wears a tag with his shot information and vet. He stays on leash and I keep him away from others. I stop and step aside for bicycles and runners. I also keep him away from other unknown dogs. I assume that dogs will bite. He has a fenced area to play and knows night time is quiet time, no barking. A little training goes a long ways. You have the animal spend the time. Makes for a better life for all.

This city needs to hire a Qualified City Planner. It is quite evident that there is no one in cityRead More management who has any idea what they are doing, specifically with regard to all this continuous construction at the height of tourist season. There are other things I question the city doing, too, but the situation with constant construction is ridiculous.
