Bikini-Clad Volunteers Sought for 'Merica Car Wash to Support Veterans

The 'Merica Bikini Car Wash will be held Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to raise funds for VFW Post 5477.

Particularly in a Navy town, people like to support veterans who fought for their country, says Madelyn Horowitz. Supporting the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post is an easy ask.

But chances are scantily clad men and women will attract more people willing to pay for a car wash.

"It's going to be a really playful, fun event," she says. "They've done so much for us, so the least we can do is to strip down into our bikinis."

Men and women are invited to volunteer to wash cars in a bikini, board shorts or other attire. Those who are unable to wash cars are invited to come get a car wash, make a donation or inquire about other ways to volunteer.

Call 619-550-8172 or email madelyn.horowitz@yahoo.com to volunteer.

Since her mother and grandfather have been active VFW members, Horowitz, 22, says the Imperial Beach post she grew up in gave her a safe place to see people and "hang out, sing karaoke and have dinner with everyone."

"This is sort of a gratitude. I'm not asking anything from them anymore. I want to do my part and make the little bit of money that we can," she says.
