Song Contest Challenges Local Musicians to Showcase Talent

All amateur and professional musicians are invited to take part. Deadline is Nov. 14.

All amateur and professional songwriters are invited to enter a contest to win a recording session at the Imperial Beach Sports Park Recreation Center's studio.

The rules are simple:

1. Submit a song by Nov. 14 to the Sports Park and Recreation Center

2. The winning song will be recorded at the Imperial Beach Sports Park and Recreation Center's recording studio using professional and local Imperial Beach musicians.

The train young people to play instruments, offer recording studio services and host concerts with local artists.

The competition was created to help raise awareness about the creative services provided at the Sports Park and Recreation Center in support of youth participation in the arts and to showcase the musical talent of the region.

Winners will be selected Nov. 21.

Songs will be judged on melody, song structure, originality and lyrics, not production quality or vocals.

Contest applications can be picked up at the Imperial Beach Sports Park Recreation Center located at 425 Imperial Beach Blvd Imperial Beach. A full list of contest rules is attached to this story.

The Imperial Beach Songwriting Contest is produced by the South County Renaissance Project and is funded in part by an EDCO grant secured through the City of Imperial Beach.
