Free Dance Workout Class at Sports Park and Recreation Center

The workout is free, and part of an ongoing study to measure the health of the program's participants.

Starting to feel the holiday heavies? Want to get a jump on a New Years resolution? Join free Academia Fit classes at the .

Dance bootcamp classes are held by instructor Sue Lani Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7 p.m.

Academia Fit is a nonprofit organization funded by the San Diego State University Research Foundation.

Classes, which are held in nine location across South San Diego, follow a model set by a Brazilian public fitness program. The program is specifically aimed at promoting positive health and health awareness among Latinos. All Academia Fit instructors speak Spanish and English.

Some participants in Academia Fit classes may be asked to take part in a study to see if the classes have improved health or well being. Eligible participants may be paid $25 three times to participate in the study.
