Heat Today, Rain on the Way, Wednesday Surf Report and Weather Forecast

Hot, strong winds and playful size surf Wednesday.

I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Imperial Beach Patch surf report. Well, we're seeing some playful size waves, but those conditions are looking a little funky from the start.

Many spots are already seeing some texture or light bump on the water. As far as the surf goes, we have mainly northwest ground and windswell in the water with little southerly energy to speak of.

That recipe is offering this stretch of sand some fast lines, with some workable corners to snag. Most spots in Imperial Beach are running about knee to chest high, with the focal points pulling a few plus sets.

Wednesday's weather forecast calls for coastal highs from 78 to 83, with gusty 10-20 mph east-northeast winds. Lows from 46 to 56 this evening. Enjoy the heat while you can. Temperatures are expected to cool down Thursday, and there's a 20 percent chance of rain Thursday and Friday evening. 60 percent chance of showers during the day Friday.

If you're going to get wet, you'll definitely want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit with the water temperature feeling on the cool side and averaging between 59 and 61 degrees. Have fun out there!
