Video: Subway Sandcastle Time Lapse

A 3-minute video of a sandcastle that took four to five hours to create.

Typically we publish photos in our IB Eyes photo column but this week we're taking a bit of a detour to feature a single piece of media made up of thousands of pictures moving rapidly.

Most people call it a video.

Victor Goodpasture is a corporate and commercial photographer who lives in Carlsbad, and likes to get out on occasion to shoot "fun stuff" to post on his Facebook and YouTube accounts.

"That's why we photographers shoot, so we can be seen," he said.

He usually attends Imperial Beach's Sandcastle Competition, but "I always get there late so this year I made a point of getting there first thing in the morning and I went there with the intention of doing a time lapse but I didn't know on who."

Team Subway was chosen for the simple fact that they had a tent pole where Goodpasture could mount his camera.

For their rendition of a crab sandwhich Team Subway won first place in the Executive sandbox category at the . Organizers estimate that more than 300,000 people attended events held July 23 and 24.
