First TRVEA Horseback Riding Competition of Year Saturday

A Junior Gymkhana for riders 16 and under and open competition for adult equestrians will be held Saturday. Additional competitions will be held every month until October.

The Tijuana River Equestrian Association (TRVEA) will host its first open competition Saturday at Willington Ranch at 2191 Hollister Street in San Diego.

Additional competitions will be held every month until October at dates to-be-announced, said president John Gabaldon. TRVEA has held open and junior competitions in the Tijuana River Valley since 1986, Gabaldon said.

Members of the public are invited to come watch. Events begin at 11 a.m.

Equestrians 16 and under can sign-up at 10 a.m. Saturday for the Junior Gymkhana which includes pole bending, racing, an obstacle course and games. Riders 16 and over can compete in the open.

Barbecue will be served.
