Thanksgiving Surf Report

The surf picks up a bit.

Good Thursday morning, I’m Surf Junkie Jeff with your Imperial Beach Patch Thanksgiving surf report. Well, we're seeing an increase in the action. Yep, there are some playful size waves out there, but things are starting off a little slow due to the extreme mid-morning high tide.

The conditions are looking clean and glassy early on, with mainly new building west northwest swell in the water.

That recipe is offering this part of the coast with some sorta soft sectiony lines with some fun shoulders to pick off. Most spots in Imperial Beach are seeing knee- to stomach-high waves, with the focal points pulling some chest-high sets.

Checking the tides...at 7:33 this morning the tide pushed way up to a whopping 7.0 high, which will have many spots swamped throughout the morning. The tide then drains out to a negative 1.6 low at 2:45 this afternoon.

If you’re going to grab a few before your turkey feast, then you’ll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit with the water temperature at most spots averaging between 59 and 61 degrees. Happy Thanksgiving!
