SUPERSEAL Triathlon and SEAL Sprint Triathlon at Silver Strand

Competitive multisport athletes, including IB resident and former Navy SEAL Syril Galindo, compete at the annual SUPERSEAL Triathlon in Silver Strand State Park Sunday.

The SUPERSEAL Triathlon showcased the swimming, biking and running skills and endurance of about 1,400 competitors who completed the 1,500 meter swim, 40K bike and 10K run, sequentially. Relay athletes on teams of three completed one of the three.

After the Coast Guard closed the Silver Strand ocean beach due to sewage contamination, the swim course was moved to the bay side of the Silver Strand.

A distressed female swimmer recieved a ride into shore and was treated by event medics.
