Still Time to Register For SUPERSEAL Triathlon

The race starts 7 a.m. Sunday. About 1,200 people are expected to compete in the triathlon and SEAL Sprint.

Registration for the SEAL Sprint is closed, but those fit and daring enough to enter can still register for the SUPERSEAL International Triathlon which includes a 1,500 meter swim in San Diego Bay, 40K bike ride and 10K run.

Highway 75 will be closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the event.

You can register online or at the pre-race expo Saturday from 10-3 p.m. at the .

According to the event's organizer Koz Events, the race will go forward rain or shine.

If 1/10 an inch of rain or more falls Saturday, the triathlon will be made into a duathlon and the swimming portion of the race will be replaced with a mile run.

There you can pick up swim caps and meet vendors from Pulse, Triathlon Club of San Diego and Breakway Training, among others.

Registration is $160.

The race will start and finish at Silver Strand State Beach, with turnaround points near the Navy Amphibious Base Coronado and north Imperial Beach.

A portion of proceeds raised will go to the Navy SEAL Foundation, who support the Naval Special Warfare sailors and their families.
