Good goalkeeping and a solid night for Santana High School senior Amber Schisler gave the Sultans a 15-10 win over the Mar Vista Mariners Wednesday in the first round of Division III girls water polo playoff action.
The Sultans mostly dominated the game, but Mar Vista outscored in the last quarter with six points.
"Our goalie played out of her mind, saved us a couple times," said Santana Coach Mitch Seeley.
Sultan's senior Amber Schisler scored the most points in the game- a whopping nine goals. She was featured as a "player to watch" by the Union Tribune in December.
Stopping Schisler was the main obstacle to a Mar Vista win said Mariners Coach Chad Kavanagh earlier this week.
Despite the first round loss, the Mariners finished the season with their third straight league championship.
Santana will go on to play top-ranked Bishop's Friday at 4 p.m. at La Jolla High.
