Monday Surf Report and Weather Forecast

A good amount of action in the water. Temperature could drop to 38 degrees Monday evening. Don't forget sunset is now around 5 p.m.

Waking up with the waves on Monday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Imperial Beach Patch surf report. We're seeing a pretty good amount of action. So, if you have a little time in between appointments...get out there and grab a session!

Unfortunately, beaches countywide have been issued general advisories, as is customary following heavy rain, so enter the water at your own risk. County environmental health officials have closed beaches near the south end of Seacoast Drive and the Tijuana River and south to the U.S.-Mexico border are closed. If you sick in IB waters, for a free check-up.

To check on the latest water quality conditions, call the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health water hotline at 619-338-2073 or visit SD Coastkeeper's latest beach status website.

As far as the surf goes, there is some decent southwest swell and some smaller northwest energy in the water, with a little texture or light bump on the surface.

That recipe is offering this part of the coast some racy section lines, with some nice wedge shoulders to snag. Most spots in Imperial Beach are seeing waist to chest high plus waves, with the standout breaks pulling some shoulder high plus sets.

The day's weather forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of rain in the morning but otherwise mostly sunny skies with highs from 59 to 64 and lows from 38 to 48 this evening for coastal San Diego and IB.

If you're going to get wet, it might be time to break out a 4/3 fullsuit with the water temperature dipping down a bit and averaging at most spots between 58 and 60 degrees. Have fun out there!
