Monday Surf Report and Weather Forecast

A decent amount of action, but a general advisory has been issued for local beaches after rain Sunday. Lows Monday evening could drop to 44 in IB.

Waking up with the waves on Monday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Imperial Beach Patch surf report. We're seeing a fair amount of action out there this morning. So, if you've got a little time in between appointments, you may want to go grab a session at some point during the day. There is a mixture of some decent west-northwest swell and northwest energy in the water.

That recipe is offering some kinda crumbly broken-up lines, with some steep corners to snag. Most spots in Imperial Beach are seeing knee to stomach high plus waves, with the focal points pulling chest high waves, with a few larger sets.

Unfortunately, the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health issued a general advisory for all beaches countywide late Sunday. Following heavy rain it is customary to issue an advisory for 72 hours. Beaches south of Seacoast Drive near the mouth of the Tijuana River and to the U.S.-Mexico border have been closed due to sewage contaminated runoff since Nov. 4.

The weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies in IB with highs from 58 to 63 and lows from 44 to 53 this evening. More rain is forecast for Thursday.

If you're going to get out in the water, then you'll want to wear at least that 3/2 fullsuit with it averaging at most spots between 59 and 62 degrees.
