After an outstanding season, the Mar Vista High School Mariner boys water polo squad was ranked 7th going into the CIF Division III Playoffs.
The Mariner squad will face 10th ranked Clairemont High School at Granite Hills High School in El Cajon on Wednesday November 13 at 6 pm.
"This is an amazing accomplishment for Mar Vista," said Assistant Coach Daren Johnson.
With many of the boys returning next year to play, the Mariners are on a team on the rise.
Water polo is a grueling and punishing sport and the Mariners have undergone a tough training regimen that started this summer with many of the players participating at the Junior Olympic tournament in Orange County.
"We really have a shot at beating them (Clairemont). If the kids play the way they are capable of it should be exciting," said Johnson.
