Photo Gallery: Lucha Libre Wrestling Arrives Near Imperial Beach

Masked wrestlers descended on a park in San Diego near Imperial Beach Sunday afternoon.

The Lucha Libre International Independent (LLII) took over Robert Egger Sr. - South Bay Recreation Center Sunday afternoon.

Attendees were invited to witness the high flying stunts and theatrics of villains and heroes like Socal Crazy and Crazy Clown.

The day's main event was a double team match between Angel Blanco Jr. and Cien Caras Jr versus Supremo Jr. and H. Del Supremo.

Sunday was the group's first apperance at the park. Their next show there is scheduled for Dec. 11 at 4 p.m.

LLII event promotor Oscar Juarez said the group typically performs in Escondido and North County, but individuals wrestlers may travel, like Tony Casanova who was unmasked in a match in Tijuana last Friday.

"It's entertainment, but when it's a mask vs. mask, it gets really tough. It can be brutal," he said.

There are 25 masked wrestlers or luchardores in the league, he said, with some from as far away as Puerto Rico or Japan.
