Runoff Pollutes Beaches, Friday Surf Report and Weather Forecast

Crummy conditions and poor water quality after recent storms.

I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Imperial Beach Patch surf report. Well, it's not looking like the greatest surf day, that's for sure!  Yep, this storm isn't bringing much in the way of waves, but some deteriorating conditions.

Most spots are starting off with some bump or light chop on the surface and don't be surprised if it completely blows out at some point during the day. As far as the surf goes, we have a minor mix of south southwest swell and very little northwest energy in the water.

That recipe is offering this part of the coast with some fairly disorganized lines, with not much to work with. Most spots in Imperial Beach are running about knee to waist high plus, with the focal points pulling a few stomach high plus sets.

General advisories have been issued for beaches countywide. County Environmental Health officials recommend keeping clear of beach water for 72 hours following a storm. Beaches south of Seacoast Drive to the U.S.-Mexico border have been closed.

Scattered rain, 0.1 to 0.4 inches of rain forecast Friday afternoon. 70 percent chance of rain Friday evening. Lows from 40 to 50 Friday evening. Sunny but cool Saturday with highs from 59 to 64.

If you're itching to get wet, then do yourself a favor and throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit with the water temperature at most spots averaging between 60 and 62 degrees. Good luck!
