Friday Surf Report and Surf Forecast

Modest size surf sticks around.

Waking up the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with you Imperial Beach Patch surf report. Well, our run of good size surf is hanging around for another day, but those conditions are questionable.

It looks like most spots are already seeing some texture on it from the start. As far as the surf goes, we have fading northwest wind and groundswell and some decent southwesterly energy in the water.

That recipe is providing this neck of the woods with some fast and fairly broken-up lines with some steep shoulders to pick off. Most spots in Imperial Beach are pulling waist to chest high plus waves, with the focal points seeing shoulder high waves, with some plus sets.

The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health recommends beachgoers stay out of the water for 72 hours after a heavy rain. Beaches from the south end of Seacoast Drive to the U.S.-Mexico border have been closed and all other beaches have been issued general advisories.

Friday's weather forecast calls for sunny skies and mild temperatures for the region. Similar weather is forecasted through the weekend. Highs of 67 in Imperial Beach, 69 in Coronado and downtown San Diego Friday and 70 in Chula Vista. High 60s to low 70s inland and 80 in Borrego Springs.

If you're planning on paddling, you'll want to wear a thin fullsuit for at least the a.m session, with the water temperature averaging between 60 and 63 degrees. Have fun out there!
