Kids Fest

Join the Port of San Diego on Saturday, June 30th at a free festival open to all! This one day, special event celebrates children and their families in Imperial Beach as well as the South Bay. Imperial Beach Kid’s Fest offers a variety of cultural experiences, performances and "inter-activities" throughout the day.

The Pier Plaza will be turned into a festival of fun with make-and- take workshops, dance classes, storytelling, environmental education, gymnastics, clowning and circus arts and a myriad of other free fun family activities that entertain and excite all ages!

Featured programming includes:

Music:  

- School of Rock House Band: Participate in musical performances by kids and for kids by the San Diego School of Rock House Band

- Songbirds Music: Ongoing make-and-take activities including making your own paper tambourine! Try out fun interactive music and movement elements, perfect for toddlers, kindergarteners and those in between. Later on, join in the mass movement and music gathering on stage for toddlers thru kindergarteners and their parents!

- WorldBeat Cultural Center: Work with WorldBeat Cultural Center in a continuous music and drumming activity. Enjoy musical performances from diverse and ethnic cultures. This activity will appeal to all ages.

Crafts:

- Handimals: Don’t miss out on participating in this make-and-take activity. Each guest will pick a color and create a hand imprint that an artist will turn into the animal of their choice! Watch your favorite animal form right before your eyes! Each guest will leave with a colorful and personalized piece of art that they helped create.

- San Diego Guild of Puppetry: Another make-and-take activity sure to please the kids! Take part in multiple make your own mask or mini-puppet workshops throughout the day. Bilingual workshops will also be available.

- The Art Kids of San Diego County: Imperial Beach's own art students will provide ongoing painting demonstrations, interactive painting and make-and-take small canvas art projects.

Dance:

- Dance Force: Exciting and high-energy dance performances by kids for kids

- Final Hour DJ Dance Party: Rock out with Primo DJ's awesome interactive DJ Di to finish the day with some dance and fun! 4-5p.m.

Performing arts:

- Animal Cracker Conspiracy: Strolling, stilt-walking puppets and a strolling giant puppet will be parading the festival! Watch "Circus Hilarious," a show featuring giant puppets.

- Classics 4 Kids: A continuous interactive station with musical instruments, a science center and talented musicians! Watch and learn to discover if there's an instrument you'd like to learn to play.

- Sophia Isadora Academy of Circus Arts: This academy will feature the Lindley Lopez Circus’ art workshops. Watch solo performances by kids and for kids.

 For the Adventurous at Heart:

- Flip Force: A gymnastics obstacle course extravaganza for children 12 and under to engage in. Visit the "learn to tumble" area, bounce and fly on a netted 3-sided trampoline, learn martial arts, gymnastics, tumbling and cheer through demos by kids and for kids!

- Neighborhood Fort: Come one, come all to The FortCube! Play with a connectable cardboard fort for kids! FortCube offer kids a blank canvas that they can design, interact and connect to build neighborhoods, tunnels, mazes and whatever else they can imagine.

Imperial beach Kid’s Fest is free and open to the public.
