Elderly Man Dies After Crossing Surf Town Finish Line

The 80-year-old came in first place in his age division and died shortly after crossing the finish line Sunday.

Shortly after crossing the Seacoast Drive finish line Sundady morning, Kendall Webb, 80, died of an apparent heart attack, NBC 7 San Diego reported.

He was fit, exercised daily and looked years younger than his actual age, but may have pushed himself too hard for the , family and friends said.

Webb won first place in his division before he collapsed, said his wife Dixie of nearly 30 years. 

"Everybody was cheering him at the end and it was like the finish line of his life," Gavin said.

, Liu Feng, 32, died in Imperial Beach while running the Silver Strand Half Marathon.

I would not call Kendall elderly.He was awesome and strong! He looked young and his body was that of a much younger man. Hes cloud hopping now the way he lived here. A true athlete. God Bless the family. Prayers to Dixie

Kendall was the man! I told him everytime I saw him at the gym that he's my hero. I really loved seeing this guy everyday, as he was the most inspiring person I have ever met. Rest in peace brother!
