Elderly Man Dies After Crossing Surf Town Finish Line

The 80-year-old came in first place in his age division and died shortly after crossing the finish line Sunday.

Shortly after crossing the Seacoast Drive finish line Sundady morning, Kendall Webb, 80, died of an apparent heart attack, NBC 7 San Diego reported.

He was fit, exercised daily and looked years younger than his actual age, but may have pushed himself too hard for the , family and friends said.

Webb won first place in his division before he collapsed, said his wife Dixie of nearly 30 years.

"Everybody was cheering him at the end and it was like the finish line of his life," Gavin said.

, Liu Feng, 32, died in Imperial Beach while running the Silver Strand Half Marathon.
