Volunteer of the Year? IB Charter's Susan Connors Is in the Running

The media technician is credited with giving her time for many school and youth events, not just in the library where she works.

A volunteer at Imperial Beach Charter School has been nominated as a local volunteer of the year, an award being presented Wednesday night by DonorNation.org, a service that supports schools.

Susan Connors works in the school's media library, but also volunteers on the school site council, booster clubs and with the Girl Scouts.

“Susan can be found volunteering at school festivals, movie nights, family literacy events, evening book fairs and more,” said Principal Pamela Reichert-Montiel, in a bio for Connors on the DonorNation website.

“Susan serves as a representative on the District’s Instructional Technology Council, seeking ways to provide students with access to educational technology tools that will enhance their learning on a daily basis.”

Connors was competing for votes with nearly 150 other San Diego County nominees. The award includes a cash prize and Connors told the charity she would purchase new non-fiction books and other digital resources for the school library if she wins.
