Register for Spring 2012 Sweetwater Adult Education Classes

Dozens of classes held across IB and South San Diego can teach you everything from basic education to mariachi music to welding or parenting skills.

Spring 2011-12 Sweetwater Union High School District Adult Education classes begin Jan. 9. Last day of spring semester is May 12.

Registration is $10 but some courses have additional fees.

You can learn floral design, how to perform mariachi music, American Sign Language and English as a Second Language. Some courses even earn college credit.

Other classes include:

- GED, high school exit exam and high school diploma classes

- health science and medical assistant

- adult literacy

- parenting 

- yoga

- pastry chef and cooking 

- construction

- roofer

- welder

- bricklayer

- school bus driver

- security officer

Classes are held at one of the district's four schools in San Diego, National City, Chula Vista and San Ysidro and dozens of offsite locations. Be sure to go to the school listed as hosting the course in the catalog to register.

Students can register for some classes online.

Babysitting services are available for $1.50 an hour Monday to Friday at Montgomery Adult School.

Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 training will take place in the second week of January and teaches construction workplace safety, workers rights, employers responsibilities, how to file complaints and other information. Classes will be held at the Chula Vista Adult School.
