The Mar Vista High School softball team failed to win their last game of the season Thursday with a 4-0 loss against Montgomery High School, but finished the season with a near perfect 11-1 record and were again named South Bay Metro league champions.

The Mariners were named co-league champions last year.

Until Thursday's loss, the Mariners were on a five-game winning streak, with 25-0 and 16-0 blowouts against San Ysidro and Castle Park high schools within the past few weeks.
