Mariners Fall Short of Win in Homecoming Game

The Mustangs offense proved too much for the Mariners. A moment of silence was held before the start of the game to recognize Tyrone Woods, an ex-SEAL killed in Libya consulate violence earlier this week.

Mar Vista High School failed to drag down a high octane Otay Ranch High School offense Friday, losing their home opener 35-13.

As is a Mar Vista homecoming tradition, a small parade was held for homecoming court before the game, and winners were announced with fireworks during halftime.

The Mariners were still within a touchdown at halftime, but the Mustangs put the win away with a 48-yard quarterback keeper and halfback toss turned long pass in the 3rd quarter.

The Mustangs have scored an average 32 points in their first three games of the season. The loss gave the Mariners a 1-2 record.

Mar Vista will play its next two games in the East County, first against the 3-0 then against Santee's Santana High School.
