Fall Semester Registration for Returning Southwestern College Students Starts July 11

The fall semester is just around the corner. Whether you're a new or returning student, there are several important dates and deadlines you'll want to mark on your calender.

Although the fall semester doesn't start at Southwestern College for another month, new and returning students will still need to do a little groundwork prior to the first day of class. Whether that means filling out a college application or purchasing a parking pass, the below information should help answer any questions you may have.

Semester Start Date:  Aug. 15

Semester End Date:  Dec. 16

Application/Registration: New students and returning students who didn't take classes last semester are required to complete an online College Admissions application.

Applications for fall semester classes must be submitted by Aug. 27.

Online Registration: Online registration is available for all classes and takes place via the California Community Colleges (CCC) Apply website. (if you do not currently have an account, you will be prompted to create one.) Registration for continuing students will begin July 11. New and returning students will be able to register starting June 27. Registration will remain open until classes are full or until Aug. 27, whichever comes first.

In-Person Registration: Registration for continuing students will begin on July 11. New and returning students will be able to register starting June 27. Registration will remain open until classes are full or until Aug. 27, whichever comes first.

Add/Drop:  Aug. 27 is the date to remember in terms of adding or dropping classes. Not only is it the last day to add a class, it’s the last day to withdraw from a full-semester class and qualify for a refund (tuition, enrollment fees, etc.). It’s also the last day the bookstore will provide you a refund for returned books, and it’s the last day to get a refund for a parking permit if you've purchased one and no longer need it.

Class Cost: The class enrollment fee for all students is $36 per unit.  Students who are not California residents must also pay an additional $190 per unit as part of their out-of-state tuition rate. SWC must receive payment within five days of registration or you may be dropped from the class. (Those who are receiving financial aid, veterans/military GI bill assistance or Board of Governors Waiver (BOGW), however, will be flagged and will retain their enrollment status.) Payments can be made with a credit card online via WebAdvisor.

Parking: Parking permits are required for those wishing to park on campus. Your options include metered parking ($1 for 45 minutes), daily parking ($3) or buying a semester parking pass ($40). Multi-vehicle parking passes cost $40 and motorcycle permits cost $20 (although if you've purchased a vehicle parking pass, you'll be able to get a motorcycle permit at no additional cost). Semester permits can be purchased at the cashier's office.
