Central Elementary Walk to School Day, Pedestrian Safety Survey and Workshop

Parents, staff and concerned citizens are invited to participate in the Imperial Beach: Let’s Walk Together project.

On Oct. 19, walk with your kids to school, and at 8 a.m., give your input about ways to make a more pedestrian IB and attend a Community Safety workshop.

With an emphasis on creating a more walkable community, participants will learn what can be done to create an environment safer for walkers, cyclists and skaters.

Participants will then be asked to give recommendations on what they would like to see done to remove the barriers of walking and biking to school.

The results will be presented to the City of Imperial Beach Public Works Department director Hank Levien, who will be present at workshops along with a representative from the Sheriff's Department.

Levien will then use the results to help create a safer walk to school and leverage future funding for infrastructure improvements.

This workshop is sponsored by the , City of Imperial Beach and WALKSanDiego, and is funded through the California Department of Transportation.
