Overall property value in Imperial Beach has seen a 3.27 percent increase in the last year, according to data released by the San Diego County Assessor last week.

The overall assessed value in Imperial Beach increased from $1.45 bilion to $1.49 billion. The properties were valued as of Jan. 1, 2013.

Though Imperial Beach's assessed value saw an increase higher in percentage than 10 of 18 cities in the region, Imperial Beach has the lowest assessed value of any city in San Diego County.

Neighboring Coronado saw a 2.46 percent increase to $6.99 billion. Chula Vista saw a 3.4 percent increase to $22.47 billion.

With a 6.82 percent increase, Del Mar saw the largest increase in assessed value of any city in San Diego County.

The county saw a 3 percent increase in all property and likely will produce an additional $3.9 billion in property taxes.

"The residential real estate market improved in the last six months of 2012," Assessor Ernest Dronenburg said. "The improved residential market required our office to partially or totally restore temporarily reduced rates as the market value on many properties exceeded the values calculated pursuant to Prop. 13. In addition, we experience positive change in ownership and new construction activity."
