Princess Samantha Kennedy Duchess of Oltu Wants You To Watch "Night of The Hunter"

The 1955 motion picture "The Night of The Hunter" is based on the book "The Night of The Hunter, a first novel by a West Virginian named Davis Grubb, set in the depression era.  Stars of this motion picture are Robert Mitchum, Shelly Winters, Lillian Gish, Evelyn Varden, Peter Graves and James Gleason and directed by Charles Laughton.   "The Night of The Hunter" is about a man claiming to be a preacher who is very evil and he is a serial killer.  He murders a widow and pursues and terrorizes her two children John and Pearl down the Ohio River to rob them of $10,000.00 hidden in Pearl's rag doll.  It is a suspenseful  and a thriller motion picture.  The children end up at the home of a very wise matron who protects the children who are hiding from this evil and corrupt preacher.  "The Night of The Hunter" remains one of the few uncompromised masterpieces of the American cinema.  It turns up on lists of the world's best films.  Two scenes that I found disturbing were the one of this evil preacher riding on a horse in the distance singing "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" and the corpse of the murdered mother bound to an old car at the bottom of the river, these scenes were very frightening to me.
