The California Citizens Redistricting Commission finalized its redrawing of state legislative district lines Monday.
Lines are redrawn every decade following the release of results, and will go into effect following 2012 elections.
Imperial Beach will remain in the 79th State Assembly District, which will be renamed the 78th State Assembly District and is represented by Ben Hueso, and in the 40th State Senate District represented by Juan Vargas.
But IB will move into the 51st Congressional District currently represented by Congressman Bob Filner (D) and out of the 53rd currently represented by Congresswoman Susan Davis (D).
The 51st comprises parts of San Diego, National City, Chula Vista, the Salton Sea and border towns from IB to the California-Arizona border.
Filner's office could not be reached for comment by the end of the day Monday. His local office is located at 333 F St. in Chula Vista.

Clarification: The original version of this article read that Bob Filner is now the Congressman for Imperial Beach since redistricting was made final, but new representation will not be final until new elections are held in 2012.
