Signs Stolen, South Bay School Board Candidate Says

Chris Brown, who is running for re-election, claims someone has been stealing campaign signs from private property for the past week.

South Bay Union School District board member Chris Brown, who is currently seeking re-election, says someone has been stealing her campaign signs.

For the past week, she said, someone has been going through the city and taking the signs. One woman living on Connecticut Street told her the sign was up for about two hours when it disappeared from her front fence.

"It isn't just my signs," said Brown. "Others have also been removed. I know that some of the others were placed on right-of-ways of city property and should be removed, but this is not the case with mine and most of the ones that I know about. They are being removed from private property where permission was given to place them there."

A man on 12th Street, she said, had several different signs on his fence and only hers were taken. "These signs are expensive," she said.

Brown who is also a member of the San Diego County Sheriff's Senior Volunteer Patrol program has not filed an official complaint but she did alert the deputies patrolling Imperial Beach about what was going on. "They will be on the lookout," Brown said confidently. "But whoever is doing it knows how to do it without being seen.

"Guess it is just part of the game. Thank goodness it is almost over."
