Poll: What Did You Think of Paul Ryan's Speech?

Following Paul Ryan's speech at the Republican Convention an L.A. Times columnist wonders whether the public cares about whether politicians tell the truth. We want to know what you think.

Republican Congressman Paul Ryan’s vice presidential speech drew plenty of praise from GOP onlookers, but critics have been quick to analyze the speech, pointing out where they believe the line of truth has been blurred.

In the local media, Ryan's grip on the facts has been questioned: Los Angeles Times media columnist James Rainey noted that critics have questioned Ryan's on several fronts, including claims over President Obama's Medicare proposals, the fight over raising the debt ceiling and a claim about a Wisconsin auto plant shutting down during Obama's time in office.

Rainey wondered in his column whether the speech would affect voter's perception of the Romney-Ryan ticket:

The question is whether the public even accepts the findings of these truth squads anymore. Too many in the audience simply shuck off findings they don't like -- and troll for a corner of the Web that suits their fancy.

Recent days have already seen umpteen outlets knock down a Romney falsehood — that Obama would end work requirements that came with welfare reform. But the GOP ticket and its surrogates have just kept on flogging the claim.

While local Democratic politicians have not been quick to jump in following the Ryan speech, many have been critical of his selection to the ticket: Rep. Judy Chu, who represents multiple cities in the San Gabriel Valley, has been a regular critic of Ryan's budget plan, even before his selection to the Romney ticket.

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Burbank, who represents parts of the San Gabriel Valley and is running in a new district covering parts of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, has also been critical.

On the other hand, Rep. Gary Miller, R-Diamond Bar, one of the few Republicans who represents any part of L.A. County, in his primary battle earlier this month.

We want to know what you think of the speech and what it means for Paul Ryan's presence on the ticket?  Do you think he was truthful?  Do you think it will affect the chances of the Romney-Ryan ticket?  Do you think the media has done a fair job of reporting on the speech?  Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Oh, yeah, Holly, about that data charges. I don't know who your provider is or what plan you're using, but we've had great luck with Sprint. Unlimited cell to cell, unlimited data, unlimited texting, unlimited pictures, and 1500 land line minutes shared between 4 of us, of which we usually have about 1000 minutes a month left over because land line hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oh yeah, and using the Sprint Family Locator, my son in law just called, and my daughter's phone was found. He had it in his hot little hand. Going to go turn back all the services I blocked when they said the phone was gone.

@Gayle, It's too much hassle to scroll through this massive thread to find your comments. So, here..........add them to the bottom where it's easier. LOL

@Holly, Amen to that. I wind up clicking on the link at the bottom of the emailed post, then using the search feature on my browser to find a keyword. It's taking 3 times as long. Seems to me they ought to close this thread and then add a new one where we can all gather round. Debate tomorrow may do that. Interesting that the thread goes on and on and twists, but it tells me something. Even if I don't like some folks viewpoints with respect to politics, at least we all care about our country and want the best for it if only our version. Haven't found an email yet about a message in my inbox Holly, but I haven't reached bottom. When I get to the iWin, iRead them all, I'll check my profile mail box.

Ok, Holly, I'm only half lost now. I responded to this comment above, so if there was something else, let me know. I think we're caught up.
