Like This Fence or That Fence? Public Input Sought for Pond 20 Fence Design

Anyone interested in giving their two cents about the design of fences to be installed on State Route 75/Palm Avenue are asked to weigh in soon.

Opinions of the design may be emailed to pond20@portofsandiego.org this week.

A recommendation will be submitted to port commissioners in early 2014, said Port of San Diego Spokeswoman Tanya Castaneda.

Visit the Pond 20 website to download a sheet displaying each of two basic kinds of fences and six options. Opinions may help decide but should not be considered votes, she said.

The Imperial Beach City Council will discuss the design concept at their meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Members of the public are welcome to speak during the public comment period.

There are no updates for when port staff plans to make a recommendation to commissioners on how to use the land.

Public meetings and proposals for how to use the 95-acre lot near northeast Imperial Beach and the Egger Highlands neighborhood of San Diego were submitted last fall.
