Incumbents Win in Tight Sweetwater School Board Race

Pearl Quinones and Bertha Lopez are inches ahead of challengers in their bid to keep their seats on the South Bay school board.

Despite facing charges from the office of District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis and corruption allegations, Pearl Quinones will keep their positions on the Sweetwater Union High School District Board of Trustees. Bertha Lopez is also expected to keep her seat. Her home was also searched last year but she was not charged.

With all precincts reporting, Quinones and Lopez maintained their lead in the polls throughout the contest, though never with a lead of 10 percent or more above competitors.
