City Council OKs Budget for 2013-15; Mayor Absent

Story by Khari Johnson

The Imperial Beach City Council on Wednesday voted 4-0 to approve the 2013-15 budget and discussed how city funds should be spent in the future to improve property values and city revenue.

Mayor Pro Tem Lorie Bragg led the meeting since Mayor Jim Janney was absent. He told Patch he was on vacation.

Janney shared his thoughts on budget proposals at meetings in March and May 1, but a revised budget was presented to the City Council at the meeting Wednesday.

Changes to the budget presented at the May 15 meeting included modifications to reserve funds and continued discussion of Imperial Beach's economic future.

The mayor will be on vacation for the rest of the week, said City Manager Gary Brown.
