Big Ideas City Workshop Wednesday

City Council will meet Wednesday evening to discuss important topics for the city's future.

The Imperial Beach City Council and heads of city departments will meet to talk over some of the city's priorities Wednesday at 6 p.m.

All are welcome to attend.

Before discussion begins, members of the public who want to speak will be invited to comment.

On the suggestion of City Manager Gary Brown, the following topics will be discussed:

1. Capturing economic opportunities along Seacoast Drive

  • Review of street improvement for Seacoast Drive
  • Marketing - potential work with Secoast Inn owner and local businesses
  • Meet with local businesses

2. Review city budget to discuss status of revenues and expenditures, cost savings, revenue enhancements, redevelopment and factors affecting the budget

3. Partnerships to reduce crimes in rental units through collaboration among tenants, property managers and Sheriff's staff

4. A review of the present and potential use of Housing Authority funds

5. Steps taken to upgrade city website, prepare for Twitter and social media

6. Status of zoning changes mandated by Council

7. General comments on other topics of interest
