Truck Flips Station Wagon Onto Roof on Palm Avenue

A collision between a car and heavy truck in the intersection at 9th Street and Palm Avenue caused the station wagon to flip on its roof Monday evening.

A collision between a Saturn station wagon and Cecilia's Safety Service truck Monday evening caused the Saturn to flip, according to officials.

Witnesses say Alisha Russell of Imperial Beach was going 40-50 mph westbound on Palm Avenue at about 8:45 p.m. when she ran a red light, said Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Jackson.

"The Saturn was approaching the intersection and ran a red light. The truck accelerated going southbound and broadsided the Saturn, forcing it to roll over onto its roof."
