Six DUI Arrests at Checkpoint on Palm Ave. Friday Night
Sheriff's deputies contacted drivers from 7:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m.
A checkpoint conducted by sheriff’s deputies on Palm Avenue Friday night resulted in the arrest of six drivers on suspicion of DUI, according to the sheriff’s department.
A total of 780 vehicles were contacted during the checkpoint, which operated from 7:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Palm Avenue. Forty three vehicles were sent to a secondary-inspection area where 10 sobriety tests were given, according to Traffic Deputy Rob Siegfried.
In addition to the six DUI arrests, two people were arrested for driving with a suspended license, and one was arrested for being drunk in public. Nine vehicles were stored and 12 citations were issued, according to the sheriff’s department.

Overtime pay for the deputies working the checkpoint was funded by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
