Search for Woman With Alzheimer's Rallies Sheriff's Helicopter to IB Skies

The woman was located by sheriff's deputies around 11 p.m. Monday after the sheriff's ASTREA helicopter broadcast her description in various parts of the city.

A search for a 59-year-old Imperial Beach woman prompted the sheriff's ASTREA helicopter to take to IB skies Monday evening to broadcast her description around the city, said Sgt. Joel Stranger with the Imperial Beach substation.

The woman was reported missing by her family around 10:20 p.m., Stranger said, and was located by sheriff's deputies around 11 p.m. near the corner of 13th Street and Palm Avenue.

"She's just a 59-year-old mother who has Alzheimer's. We found her shortly after and she was fine. she was located and returned home to the family," Stranger said.
