Scuffle on Seacoast Sends 2 to Hospital

At least one person involved in the fight will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, while another remains at large.

A fight that broke out around sunset on Seacoast Drive sent at least two people to the hospital, a San Diego County Sheriff's Department officer said.

At about 6:50 p.m. Saturday, for unknown reasons, a fight broke out between four people near the beach.

"It started off and looked like there was a fist fight," Lt. Scott Amos said. "And there was a skateboard involved, but I don't know how much that played a role."

Two men were sent to the hospital, and three men involved in the fight fled the scene.

An ASTREA sheriff helicopter was called in to assist, and two suspects were apprehended a short time after the fight, Amos said.

One remains outstanding. A description is not available at this time.

At least one of suspects will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, Amos said.

"They were kicking the victim on the ground, so in this case the weapon would be his foot," he said.

The fight does not appear to be gang related, Amos said.

The Imperial Beach Fire Department, American Medical Response ambulances, sheriff's department and Imperial Beach lifeguards responded to the incident.
