SD Man Allegedly Robbed 3 Banks with Bomb Threats

Roberto Amado Sepulveda, who was arrested by the San Diego Police Department Monday for allegedly robbing a bank off Saturn Boulevard, is believed to have robbed a Chase Bank on Palm Avenue and another bank last month in Point Loma.

A 24-year-old man is behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of robbing an Egger Highlands-area credit union this week and two other banks last month, FBI agents said.

Roberto Amado Sepulveda of San Diego allegedly confronted a teller at Navy Federal Credit Union in the 500 block of Saturn Boulevard shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, demanding cash and claiming to have a pistol and a bomb, according to the FBI.

The bandit fled with an undisclosed sum of cash. Hidden in the currency was an electronic device that enabled police to track down Sepulveda at an Imperial Beach home, officials said.

Detectives believe Sepulveda also robbed a Chase Bank branch in the 1100 block of Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach on Nov. 17, and struck again four days later at an AmericanWest Bank branch in the 1300 block of Rosecrans Street in Point Loma, according to the FBI.

Sepulveda was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail, pending arraignment scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

he robbed 3 banks within a mile of his home... you'd think he would consider the odds that a teller could be his neighbor... and what's up with everyone that knows this kid...no job .. ...happens to have thousands of dollars every time there's a bank robbery in town ... not one person that knows this kid could add this up...??

I think you need to learn to read Libi, and you have ZERO concept of distance. 1. One of the banks is in Point Loma, a heck of a lot further than 1 mile-in fact, all the banks are further than a mile. 2. They said he was a San Diego man, not an Imperial Beach man, so that may not have been where he lived; in fact, I doubt it, since they don't have the house closed off as a crime scene. 3. Who said he had no job; and I don't go telling everyone how much money I have, do you? But then again, we all know that everything is a conspiracy in this town-it was probably the city manager that put him up to it...

you're always quick to defend the criminals ...very funny that you read about a bank robber and you think of the city manager....very freudian ...

How am I "always quick to defend the criminals?" I haven't made a comment on here in months, and that was way before you began commenting. Nowhere do I defend him. I defended MY NEIGHBORHOOD, and set the record straight. YOU responded to the article with a comment the was rife with errors and assumptions. The "city manager" comment was a commentary on YOU. In every article you comment in (which is almost all of them, I have to say), you start in on the corruptness of the city and our manager. Definitely NOT a Freudian slip, I knew exactly what I wrote and why. I'm thinking you might have flunked reading comprehension in school.

I know him. We were friends who used to work together. He was always so afraid of jail, but his addiction and subsequent loss of everything must have drove him to this. I'm beyond shocked. I hope he's alright.

I'm sorry for your friend RJ; I saw that he had a prior arrest for possession. Meth will take over your life. Hopefully he will get the help he needs-doubtful, but we can hope.

He comes from a good family. I feel really bad for them.
