I would comment on this but since the sheriff's read this I better not say anything about their very tiring day up in coronado giving out those 230+ tickets to our young servicemembers and others !

ib only has 3 ways to get in and out of the city... we're small enough to lock down our city and develop a reputation as a safe access city that has zero tolerance for crime.. we had a junkie living on the 600 block of ocean lane that was selling heroin & crack and renting out his bathroom to homeless people... ocean lane had turned into junkie blvd.... but the neighborhood got together with the sheriffs dept and code compliance and we pushed them out of our neighborhood... if we've got problem areas or people in this town we need to identify those problems and remove them ...

all the 'big crime' is happening in coronado from 9 - 11 am ... on a wednesday...

Traffic officers from Coronado PD, Chula Vista PD, Carlsbad PD, La Mesa PD, National City PD, San Diego County Sheriff’s Dept., San Diego PD, and San Diego State PD were all involved. The focus was on children and school safety. A notice went out to Coronado residents through various media outlets, one week ahead: "This Wednesday October 24th, motorcycle and traffic officers from around San Diego County will focus their efforts in Coronado to ensure citizens and students are driving safely, biking correctly, and obeying the Vehicle Code. There will be a special emphasis in the vicinity of our schools. Please be extra cautious that day and advise children of their presence." Safety first, when it comes to kids.

So that was the commotion going on around my street corner. I expect more crime...even more so in Imperial Beach if Prop S and the Potshop collective dispensary weed store people get their way. Vote Local. Vote NO on Prop S. For our neighborhoods and for our community. God Bless Imperial Beach. The BEST is before us.
Libi Uremovic October 26, 2012 at 05:58 PM
why do you expect more crime in your neighborhood dante? if we have problem areas in ib then we need to address the issue, not accept it or use it to conger up some future fears... sounds to me like your neighborhood could use a weed store to provide security cameras and surveillance .. ...and jobs so people don't have to steal ...
Dante Pamintuan October 26, 2012 at 06:11 PM
Yeah Libi. I need more government and Big brother to watch over me. No thanks.
Libi Uremovic October 26, 2012 at 06:30 PM
that would be your neighbors dante, not the government or big brother.. we had a problem with drugs and bums on ocean lane, but we took action... if you walk down the 600 block of ocean lane you'll see cameras on both sides of the lane ... we're not 'watching you' - but we're making sure our streets are safe for kids and old people ... every time we saw a junkie we'd call the cops - the sheriff's worked with us and were quick and consistent ... go up to any junkie on the street in ib and ask them about ocean lane - they will know exactly who i am and they will tell you why they stay off the 600 block of ocean lane... prop s allows weed commerce through legal means just like every other produce from our state ... this separates cali farmers, retailers, and consumers and allows law enforcement to focus on dangerous criminals and street drugs... we will have more city and state tax revenue and law enforcement will be able to clearly see the problem criminals selling hard drugs....it's a win/win...

Prop S is not safe for Imperial Beach. No on S It is proven time and time again that the pot "stores" increase crime. Los Angeles kicked them out. San Diego kicked them out. San Francisco kicked them out. Oakland is now kicking them out. All for the same reasons - they breed crime. Prop S is not safe for Imperial Beach. And Libi - Imperial Beach residents will not likely be employed in enough numbers to matter because the Sheriff Deputy’s already have jobs.

Dante and John, you are absolutely correct! We don't need a BIG BROTHER/ or more government over site! If the neighbors were involved, it could and would turn into a bunch of neighbors tattling on each other for very minor nonsense ,,, that started out because on kid took another kids toy. How about we support our police department and lobby for hiring more officers!!!!
Libi Uremovic October 26, 2012 at 07:49 PM
you guys don't seem to understand that 'big brother/more government' is what no on prop s brings...the police dept is the govt...the city is the govt...the city overseeing and controlling all the money and business is 'big brother'... lack of communication with neighbors is why you've got crime in your neighborhoods....it's it really so hard to talk to each other and agree that you don't want street drugs in your neighborhood...? look who signed no on prop s.....all 4 of those people are going to go to prison for pillaging the city .... prop s is about moving away from government control... especially this government...

Libi. My neighbors were victims of a violent home invasion here in Imperial Beach. They were tied up at gunpoint and forced to lie flat face down. They both are still suffering tremendous trauma and emotional stress. The four or five men who carried out this home invasion were caught and now serving prison time. Turns out they terrorized the wrong people on account of potent marijuana seeds and plants. Vote NO on Prop S. Vote local. Vote for safe neighborhoods and a safer community. God Bless Imperial Beach. The BEST is before us.
Libi Uremovic October 26, 2012 at 11:14 PM
yes dante - it's a mulit million dollar industry... read about the booze prohibition days...big money for criminals and government, but the people suffered your neighbors were a victim of violent crime because of the present laws, not future laws.... look at our present situation...high crime, high unemployment, high taxes, low services, deteriorating schools.... let's try an alternative course - and we will analyze the data ....we will look at the police reports & the financial reports and have actual data instead of theories and conjectures ... if there are negative results we'll come together as a community and make any changes needed.... but we're going to frame the message dante - this town is safe access, but the safe access is for the farmers, retailers, & consumers - not street drugs.... this will give us an opportunity to clean up our streets and build ib's reputation as a zero tolerance town...
Salinde October 27, 2012 at 04:52 AM
Libi, where do you come up with the crap you post? FYI, Coronado basically has two ways on or off ...the bridge and the strand, both Bank of America and Union Banks in Coronado have been robbed and the folks who did it never caught. There have been a few murders over the years and in many instances they haven't been solved ....Coronado has the same drug issues as IB ....all that being the case how do you propose IB being cordoned off from crime ?
Libi Uremovic October 27, 2012 at 01:41 PM
salinde, solving the problem is the only way to progress a society.... solving problems isn't the hard part for me... for me the hard part is understanding how people have been programed to accept the problems...that's the part i can't wrap my head around...
