Van Drives Into Sushi Restaurant

Baja Oyster and Sushi Bar on Coronado Avenue will be closed while the restaurant is repaired.

A gray Chevy van rammed into a sushi bar late Monday morning, causing exterior damages to the front of the business.

Gabriel Uribe, owner of Baja Oyster and Sushi Bar, said the van’s gas pedal got stuck and crashed into his business.

The restaurant located at the corner of Coronado Avenue and Saturn Boulevard was closed at the time of the accident. Uribe said no one from the restaurant was injured.

This is the second time in six years that a vehicle has crashed into the sushi bar, Uribe said. He estimates damages from the accident Monday may cost about $30,000.

“My business will now be closed for a month for repairs,” he said.
