Meet and Greet with Imperial Beach Sheriff's Station Wednesday, Fill Out Surveys to Improve Law Enforcement

Cops on Your Corner encourages communication and collaboration with Imperial Beach citizens and the local Sheriff Department.

Calling all citizens - the Sheriff’s Department wants to hear from you.

As part of an ongoing effort to understand the community's concerns and crime prevention needs, the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Station is holding its second Cops on Your Corner event Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m in Portwood Pier Plaza.

Individuals who live or work in IB are encouraged to meet and greet with the station’s Captain David Myers, lieutenants, sergeants and deputies. Deputies will also be going door-to-door to speak with residents to identify new crime concerns.

“When we meet with the public, we hope to establish better communication and collaboration to solve issues that are important to the community that we serve,” said Imperial Beach Station Det. Sgt. Jeffrey Duckworth.

The event is part of Sheriff Bill Gore’s new, a Sheriff's Department official said in a press release.

Anonymous surveys, also part of the initiative, were recently made available to help the department collect usable data about citizens’ experience with crime in the city. Duckworth said information collected will help the station address areas of concern.   

“The surveys give us a chance to measure how the public perceives their respective neighborhoods, and how they perceive our response to issues that affect the quality of life in those areas,” said Duckworth.

Surveys are available online in English and in Spanish.
