An unidentified man was found in a burning trailer in The Imperial Trailer Park in the 600 block of Palm Avenue Friday morning, according to the County of San Diego Medical Examiner's Office.
Around 4:47 a.m. a passerby noticed smoke coming from the man's home and the Imperial Beach Fire Department responded.
"They found the trailer engulfed in flames and subsequently extinguished the fire. Upon searching the scene, they discovered the decedent's body at the rear of the trailer," a statement from the medical examiner's office said. "The decedent is believed to be a divorced 62-year-old, white male who resided in a travel trailer in Imperial Beach."
The man's death is thought to have been caused by smoke inhalation and third and fourth degree burns, the medical examiner's office said.
The fire is believed to have been an accident, the statement said, and is under investigation by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
