UPDATE: Man Arrested 3 Times in 5 Days for DUI Arraigned

David Lakarnafeaux was arrested three times for drunken driving last week and will be arraigned Thursday.

An Imperial Beach man arrested on suspicion of drunken driving three times in five days was scheduled to be arraigned at the downtown San Diego courthouse today.

David Lakarnafeaux, 44, was last arrested about 6:30 a.m. Sunday. Sheriff's deputies responding to a report of a drunken driver on Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach found on arrival that the defendant had walked inside on Palm Avenue, according to sheriff's Sgt. Ted Greenwald.

They soon discovered Lakarnafeaux had already been arrested for the same reason twice last week, he said.

The defendant was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving by San Diego police on Jan. 17 and by California Highway Patrol officers on Jan. 19, Greenwald said.

On Wednesday, Lakarnafeaux pleaded not guilty to one misdemeanor charge of DUI in connection with one of his three recent arrests.

His public defender asked that his client be released on his own recognizance but a judge ordered Lakarnafeaux to remain in San Diego Central Jail unless he posts $100,000 bail, KGTV 10 News reported.

Today, Lakarnafeaux is expected to be arraigned on a second DUI count.

It is unclear when he will be arraigned on the third.

Last summer was arrested three times for driving under the influence within the course of three weeks.
