San Diego Fire-Rescue and its lifeguard service helped a man from the Tijuana River Sunday evening near Monument Road, said fire dispatcher Michael Young.

A call was made for the rescue by the U.S. Border Patrol around midnight and took about an hour to complete.

"They found a guy sitting on a ledge six feet above the water that couldn't get himself to shore so they helped him with that," he said. The man was then transported to the hospital. No major injuries were reported.
